Hi All:
Got here to the Klondike Campground in Soldatna, Alaska. It's pretty nice. Had to back in the sight, so had to take the car and dolly off the Motor home first. Not to much trouble, but more than a pull thru is. Nice gravel sites. Most all sites are gravel down here. That makes it nicer if it's raining. No mud...We drove to the town, and went to a restaurant for dinner. It turned out to be a little higher class place than I thought, but the food was pretty good, and a little expensive, but nice.
Checked the visitors center and found the fish are starting to come up in the Kenai River that runs thru the town. Salmon are all late in coming this year they say. Some say it is because the snow and ice have not melted on the mountains yet, so the salmon don't know it's time to come on in the river.
We called a fishing guide that the camground recommended for tomorrow. We booked a half day trip for King Salmon. He will be here at the camp site about 8:30 tonight to set up our fishing licenses, and set the place and time for tomorrow morning. Not sure if I use my fishing pole, or he furnishes them. He does clean, filet, vacuum pack and freeze any fish we catch. Not sure what we may catch. Hope to catch two 30 pound King Salmon. That should make a mess I would think.
Amy and Dorene are going shopping somewhere. That is scary too. Hope to have a lot to tell you about the fishing trip in the next blog...
